Up the hill in Stepanavan – Just 3 km from the city of Stepanavan, there is a hill on the top of which is built a small but attractive chapel, the Holy Savior (Surb Amenaprkich – Սուրբ Ամենափրկիչ մատուռ).
The chapel is a small pilgrimage site for locals, often visited by residents of both Stepanavan and the surrounding villages. There are also quite a few tourists, but many are still unaware of this unique place.

The chapel was built in the 13th century and was renovated in 2011.

The chapel is located on the top of a hill, about 1 km from the Stepanavan-Tashir highway. From here, a magnificent view opens up that is difficult to describe in words and photos.
Here is one scene from the hill of Amenaprkich chapel:

In the middle, you can see the panorama of Getavan village; on the right bottom it’s Stepanavan-Tashir road.

And this is the Stepanavan-Tashir road.
How to go
Head from Stepanavan to Tashir town. Driving from Stepanavan to Tashir city, after you pass the Golden Lily lakes halfway through the road before reaching Getavan village, you will see a hill with a chapel on top. Turn right and climb the off-road road to the chapel. Any car can drive on the road․
At any time of the day, it is possible to immerse yourself in peace here and enjoy the silence and the views and landscapes that open from above.
I definitely recommend visiting Chapel Hill while in Stepanavan and enjoying the tranquility and being recharged with positive energy. And don’t forget to visit another picturesque sight on your way – the golden lily lakes near the road mentioned above.
